Historia G\u0142\u00f3wczyc (Glovcicz, Glovectz, Glovezit, Glovicze, Glonitze<\/em>, G\u0142\u00f3wcz\u00ebce, Glonitz<\/i>) si\u0119ga wczesnego \u015bredniowiecza. Pierwsza wzmianka o wsi w dokumentach pochodzi z XIII w. i wspomina o niej jako dobrach rycerskich wskazuj\u0105c \u00f3wczesnego w\u0142a\u015bciciela: \u201cRatislaus miles de Glovectz<\/em>\u201c.<\/span><\/p>\n

Z 1475 r. pochodzi pierwsza wzmianka o nowych w\u0142a\u015bcicielach wsi \u2013 rodzie von Puttkamer. W ich r\u0119kach wie\u015b pozostanie do ko\u0144ca II wojny \u015bwiatowej (1945 r.). Wie\u015b by\u0142a miejscem koegzystencji Niemc\u00f3w i Kaszub\u00f3w. Wzmianki z XIX w. zawieraj\u0105 informacje \u00a0o kazaniach w ko\u015bciele, kt\u00f3re pastorzy wyg\u0142aszali tak\u017ce w j\u0119zyku kaszubskim. W XIX w. wie\u015b mia\u0142a charakter ma\u0142ego miasteczka. Opr\u00f3cz rolnik\u00f3w, mieszkali tam na sta\u0142e rzemie\u015blnicy, kupcy i przedstawiciele wolnych zawod\u00f3w. Dzia\u0142a\u0142y dwie dru\u017cyny sportowe, odbywa\u0142y si\u0119 maskowe bale karnawa\u0142owe, widowiska teatralne i koncerty muzyki.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rosyjskie wojska wesz\u0142y do wsi 7 maja 1945 r. Rozpocz\u0119\u0142y od ostrza\u0142u artyleryjskiego. Pomimo zapewnienia ze strony przedstawiciela mieszka\u0144c\u00f3w, \u017ce wie\u015b poddaje si\u0119 i nie b\u0119dzie \u00a0stawia\u0107 \u017cadnego oporu, Rosjanie \u2013 jak podaje kronika miasto \u2013 rozstrzelali kilkudziesi\u0119ciu m\u0119\u017cczyzn oraz zgwa\u0142cili wiele kobiet i dziewcz\u0105t. Po \u00a0wyj\u015bciu Rosjan, wie\u015b przej\u0119li Polacy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protestancki ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 przej\u0119li katolicy. Od 60 lat pos\u0142ug\u0119 duszpastersk\u0105 pe\u0142ni\u0105 w \u015bwi\u0105tyni salezjanie.<\/span><\/td>\n

The history of G\u0142\u00f3wczyce (Glovcicz, Glovectz, Glovezit, Glovicze, Glonitze, G\u0142\u00f3wcz\u00ebce, Glonitz) dates back to the early Middle Ages. The first mention of the village in documents comes from the 13th century and mentions it as a feudal estate, indicating the then owner: “Ratislaus miles de Glovectz”.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first mention of the new owners of the village – the von Puttkamer family – comes from 1475. The village would remain in their hands until the end of World War II (1945). The village was a place of coexistence for Germans, Polish and Kashubians. References from the 19th century contain information about sermons in the church, which pastors also delivered in Kashubian language. In the 19th century, the village had the character of a small town. In addition to farmers, craftsmen, merchants, also a few lawyers and doctors lived there permanently. There were two sports teams, there were carnival masked balls, theater performances and music concerts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russian troops entered the village on May 7, 1945. They began with artillery fire. Despite the assurance from the residents’ representative that the village was surrendering and would not put up any resistance, the Russians – according to the city’s chronicle – shot several dozen men and raped many women and girls. After the Russians left, the village was officially taken over by the Poles.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Protestant church was taken over by Catholics. Salesians have been providing pastoral service in the temple for 60 years.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

W 1889 r. nadesz\u0142a kolejna tragedia – sp\u0142on\u0105\u0142 zabytkowy ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 z XVII\/XVIII w.<\/span>
\nPuttkamerowie istotnie wsparli proces odbudowy. Nowy, neogotycki ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142 oddano do u\u017cytku wiernych (protestant\u00f3w) ju\u017c w 1891 r.<\/span><\/p>\n

List\u0119 niszczycielskich po\u017car\u00f3w w historii miasta zamyka tragedia, kt\u00f3ra mia\u0142a miejsce w nocy z 24 na 25 marca 2020 r. W\u00f3wczas ogie\u0144 zniszczy\u0142 zgrabny neogotycki pa\u0142acyk Puttkamer\u00f3w. Zabytkowe wyposa\u017cenie (w tym stiuki, stolarka schodowa i okienna, piece kaflowe oraz zabudowa biblioteki z herbami Puttkamer\u00f3w), kt\u00f3re przetrwa\u0142o obie wojny \u015bwiatowe i czasy PRL – strawi\u0142 ogie\u0144 lub rozkradli z\u0142odzieje – jak w przypadku kutego herbu Puttkamer\u00f3w na balustradzie balkonowej pa\u0142acu.<\/span><\/td>\n

G\u0142\u00f3wczyce was destroyed by fire several times. In 1874, a raging fire destroyed a large part of the village’s buildings. The reconstruction took over 3 years. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 1889, another tragedy occurred – a historic church from the 17th\/18th century burned down.<\/span>
\nThe Puttkamer family significantly supported the reconstruction process. The new, neo-Gothic church was opened to the Protestants in 1891.<\/span><\/p>\n

The list of destructive fires in the history of the city ends with the tragedy that took place on the night of March 24-25, 2020. Then the fire destroyed the neat neo-Gothic palace of the Puttkamer family. Historic furnishings (including stucco, staircase and window joinery, tiled fireplaces and a library cabinets with Puttkamer coats of arms), which survived both world wars and the times of the communist regime in Poland – were consumed by fire or stolen by thieves – as in the case of the forged Puttkamer coat of arms on the balcony railing of the palace.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

W tej sytuacji ogromnie cieszy fakt, \u017ce w miejscowym ko\u015bciele przetrwa\u0142y bezcenne zabytki heraldyki szlacheckiej – witra\u017ce z herbami pomorskich rodzin szlacheckich, dawnych w\u0142a\u015bcicieli okolicznych maj\u0105tk\u00f3w: hrabi\u00f3w von Keller, baron\u00f3w von Prittwitz und Gaffron, rod\u00f3w: von Zitzewitz, von Oertzen, von Lieres und Wilkau, von Krockow, von Puttkamer, von Blankensee-Zipkow, von Voss, von Bonin, von Gaudecker, von Stojentin-Schorin, von Dorne.<\/span><\/td>\nIn this situation, it is great that priceless monuments of nobility heraldry – stained glass windows – have survived in the local church with the coats of arms of Pomeranian noble families, former owners of nearby estates: counts von Keller, barons von Prittwitz and Gaffron, families: von Zitzewitz, von Oertzen, von Lieres and Wilkau, von Krockow, von Puttkamer, von Blankensee-Zipkow, von Voss, von Bonin, von Gaudecker, von Stojentin-Schorin, von Dorne.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Pierwsza pr\u00f3ba rozszyfrowania programu heraldycznego g\u0142\u00f3wczyckich witra\u017cy doprowadzi\u0142a mnie do wniosku, \u017ce mog\u0105 to by\u0107 herby patron\u00f3w – cz\u0142onk\u00f3w rady parafialnej, z kt\u00f3rych cz\u0119\u015b\u0107 wymienia kronika miasta okre\u015blaj\u0105c liczb\u0119 g\u0142os\u00f3w, kt\u00f3r\u0105 dysponowali w czasie decydowania o sprawach parafii. Daty w opaskach wok\u00f3\u0142 wizerunk\u00f3w pochodz\u0105 cz\u0119\u015bciowo z okresu sprzed po\u017caru, a wi\u0119c na pewno nie s\u0105 to daty wstawienia \/ufundowania witra\u017ca. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ciekawostk\u0105 jest fakt, \u017ce wi\u0119kszo\u015b\u0107 to herby m\u0119\u017catek. Mo\u017ce data na witra\u017cach z herbami m\u0119\u017catek to rok zawarcia zwi\u0105zku ma\u0142\u017ce\u0144skiego? \u00a0Ta zagadka czeka wci\u0105\u017c na wyja\u015bnienie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tymczasem zapraszam do obejrzenia zdj\u0119\u0107, kt\u00f3re uda\u0142o mi si\u0119 wykona\u0107 dzi\u0119ki uprzejmo\u015bci miejscowych ksi\u0119\u017cy. Heraldyka g\u0142\u00f3wczyckich witra\u017cy to przyk\u0142ad stylizowanej na neogotyk, \u015bwietnej heraldyki niemieckiej, kt\u00f3ra nasta\u0142a w drugiej po\u0142owie XIX wieku w odpowiedzi na \u00f3wczesn\u0105 kra\u0144cowo zdegenerowan\u0105 heraldyk\u0119 europejsk\u0105. Wizerunki prezentuj\u0105 bardzo wysoki poziom sztuki i rzemios\u0142a artystycznego, a tak\u017ce heraldyki. Zabytki heraldyczne s\u0105 w p\u00f3\u0142nocnej cz\u0119\u015bci Polski nieliczne. Heraldyka na tak wysokim poziomie w wiejskim ko\u015bciele z drugiej po\u0142owy XIX wieku to prawdziwa rzadko\u015b\u0107.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pod zdj\u0119ciami zawar\u0142em informacje na temat rozszyfrowanych napis\u00f3w oraz kilka szczeg\u00f3\u0142\u00f3w na temat ka\u017cdego z rod\u00f3w, kt\u00f3rych herby ozdobi\u0142y g\u0142\u00f3wczyckie witra\u017ce. Jest tam niema\u0142o ciekawostek. Licz\u0119, \u017ce to dopiero pocz\u0105tek detektywistycznej przygody. Zach\u0119cam wszystkich Czytelnik\u00f3w do udzia\u0142u i do kontynuacji tego ma\u0142ego \u015bledztwa.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

The stained glass windows probably depict the coats of arms of noble families living in the G\u0142\u00f3wczyce parish. The first attempt to decipher the heraldic program of the G\u0142\u00f3wczyce stained glass windows led me to the conclusion that they may be the coats of arms of patrons – members of the parish council, some of whom are mentioned in the city chronicle specifying the number of votes they had when deciding on parish matters. The dates in the bands around the images partly come from the period before the fire, so they are certainly not the dates when the stained glass window was installed\/founded. <\/span><\/p>\n

An interesting fact is that most of them are the coats of arms of married women. Maybe the date on the stained glass windows with the coats of arms of married women is the year of their marriage? This mystery is still waiting to be solved.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime, please take a look at the photos I managed to take thanks to the courtesy of local priests. The heraldry of the G\u0142\u00f3wczyce stained glass windows is an example of great German heraldry styled in neo-Gothic style, which appeared in the second half of the 19th century in response to the extremely degenerate European heraldry of that time. The images represent a very high level of art and craftsmanship, as well as heraldry. Heraldic monuments are few in northern Poland. Heraldry at such a high level in a village church from the second half of the 19th century is a real rarity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the photos, I included information about the deciphered inscriptions and a few details about each of the families whose coats of arms decorated the stained glass windows in G\u0142\u00f3wczyce. There are a lot of interesting facts there. I hope this is just the beginning of a detective adventure. The progenitor was supposed to receive it for winning a game of chess. Members of the family from various branches served the last Polish kings from the Jagiellonian dynasty, the kings of Bohemia and Prussia. The coat of arms in the stained glass window is in the rank of a baron. The hereditary title of Czech baron was obtained in 1732 by Leonhard Adolph von Prittwitz with the title “Edler von Graffon”. The form of the surname “von Prittwitz und Graffon” was approved by the Prussian Heraldry Office only in 1882.

Z czasem \u0142aci\u0144ski vulpes zmieni\u0142 si\u0119 w dolnomieckie: foss\/voss i tak utrwali\u0142o si\u0119 nazwisko rodziny. Tutaj wersja szlachecka herbu. R\u00f3d von Voss mia\u0142 tak\u017ce ga\u0142\u0105\u017a arystokratyczn\u0105, jedn\u0105 z najbogatszych rodzin Pomorza Zachodniego.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/td>\nCoat of arms of Mrs. von Blankensee n\u00e9e von Voss. Date 1845. In the shield is the coat of arms of the Mecklenburg-based von Voss knightly family, recorded in documents since 1253. Interestingly, the coat of arms was inserted in an inverted form, which can be seen by the direction of the letters, but also by the inverted emblem of the coat of arms – the fox should be directed towards heraldic right side. Another interesting fact: Voss is a counting coat of arms. The progenitor of the family, John, advisor to Nicholas I, Duke of Rostock, was nicknamed Vulpes, meaning fox. Over time, the Latin vulpes changed into the Low German: foss\/voss and this is how the family surname became established. Here is the noble version of the coat of arms.
